Way back in January 1985. I was in between jobs. Just left
a startup in Sunnyvale, CA for a more stable job at Lockheed, which was
starting a new group in Austin, TX. I bought my 84 SVO in Albuquerque,
NM. The SVO had 273 miles on it. A very bad snow storm hit
and it was snow packed roads ALL the way into Austin! These cars are not
good in the snow. The only problem I had with the car is that when
it was assembled at the factory, the cooling fan spun in the opposite
direction when it came on (i.e. push air instead of pulling). I
came back to California in 1987. It's been my daily driver up until
two years ago. It's now my "weekend" car. The car is pretty much
stock except for the following mods:
